HAPPY TO HELP

Happy Sheep originates from the encounter of two worlds: made in Italy design and Nepalese craftsmanship.

Life is a journey and ours started in Kathmandu Valley, where we realized there was so much more to learn about Nepalese cashmere manufacturing skills, than what we expected. What we discovered was a mindset in which freedom, respect and dedication melt together to form pure and unconditioned happiness, despite the serious issues of everyday life. We expected to learn a lot about cashmere. But we also learned a lot about people.

Among them was Santa Budhathoki owner of the factory that produced our garments since the very start. Santa was a teenage single mum when her father died, leaving her with no options but to interrupt her studies and start working to make a living. In a couple of years she earned enough to start her little business: a textile factory with just 2 hand flat machines. When we first met Santa we were immediately captivated by the confidence, the radiance and the talent of this woman. Seven years later she is a successful businesswoman running a definitely much bigger factory with 36 automatic machines and 40 employees (30 women), a reality we are very proud of having enhanced.

Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Therefore we decided to continue our adventure and explore new artisanal small businesses from all over the world in order to replicate in other realities what we had done and learned in Nepal. Our goal is to build solid relationships that will last for a long time and that will lead to a mutual growth.

This is why happy sheep is a perfect example of “Made in Italy reinvented”: a contemporary Italian brand that preserves its local heritage but opens up to the future and is influenced by global trends.

For the very same reason, we felt the need to go back to our roots and rely also on Italian artisanal realities. We enjoy working side by side with these local manufacturers, in order to help and support each other and to build together something special. Indeed, when it comes to those garments that require a particular attention to details, their know-how guarantees the best quality.
